About Dr. Michele Locke

I am a registered clinical psychologist specializing in child, adolescent, and parenting psychology. I completed my Masters and PhD in developmental clinical psychology at the University of Guelph (2013). Since that time, I practiced in a comprehensive Toronto based Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) practice, providing group, individual, and parenting interventions, as well as consultation, supervision, and DBT training to hospital and community based programs. I am also trained and experienced in other clinical approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and Emotion Focused Therapy, Emotion Focused Family Therapy and relational/attachment based approaches. I believe in client-centred, evidence-based approaches to clinical care. I am passionate about parenting interventions focused on improving caregivers’ capacity to care for emotionally sensitive and intense children and adolescents.

My training and work experiences have been in hospital, private, and community sectors and have included: Sick Kids Hospital, McMaster Children’s Hospital, Broadview Psychology, Syl Apps Youth Centre, and the Toronto District School Board. I have provided training and consultation in provision of Adolescent Dialectical Behaviour Therapy to various clinical sites including: North York General Hospital, Skylark Youth Services, Children’s Mental Health Association of Peel, Oshawa Psychotherapy Institute, and Youthdale Treatment Services. 

When I am not working, I enjoying spending time with my wife and two children in the west-end of Toronto.
